The Art of Mikael Alacoque

Mikael Alacoque

Fascinated by the idea of the public monument much of Mikael's
work revolves around a need to investigate the way in which society
records events and people by casting them in metal and stone.

See these & other recent works; all part of a series of sculptures concerned with a playfully sinister bastardization of familiar objects. The pieces have an initial feeling of innocence and irreverence but on closer inspection seem more bizarre and unsettling. See more here.

The Author to Her Book - A Poem about Writing

Any authors among my readers should sympathize with Bradstreet's poem.  Its sentiments apply to anyone who works in a creative field, whether visual art, music, or writing.  It tells of the fondness an author has for her work, and how reluctant she is to stop editing and release it to the public, but how a good author has to let go eventually.

THE AUTHOR TO HER BOOK

THOU ill-form'd offspring of my feeble brain,
Who after birth did'st by my side remain,
Till snatcht from thence by friends, less wise than true
Who thee abroad, expos'd to publick view,
Made thee in raggs, halting to th' press to trudge,
Where errors were not lessened (all may judg).
At thy return my blushing was not small,
My rambling brat (in print) should mother call,
I cast thee by as one unfit for light,
Thy Visage was so irksome in my sight;
Yet being mine own, at length affection would
Thy blemishes amend, if so I could:
I wash'd thy face, but more defects I saw,
And rubbing off a spot, still made a flaw.
I stretcht thy joynts to make thee even feet,
Yet still thou run'st more hobling then is meet;
In better dress to trim thee was my mind,
But nought save home-spun Cloth, i'th' house I find.
In this array, 'mongst Vulgars mayst thou roam,
In Criticks hands, beware thou dost not come;
And take thy way where yet thou art not known,
If for thy Father askt, say, thou hadst none:
And for thy Mother, she alas is poor,
Which caus'd her thus to send thee out of door.

It's here: The world's first customizable speaker is now on Zazzle!

OrigAudio co-founder and Doodle creators Jason Lucash and Michael Szymczak survived ABC’s “Shark Tank” and walked away with a $150K investment. Now, they feel they are ready for Zazzle!

Now less than a week after launching this new product with over 34,000 designs already available to choose from, I reckon it fair to say the many talented artists who make up the zazzle community where certainly ready for the Doodle.
Obviously 34k plus doodle speakers would make for on stoopidly lengthy post, however I couldn't let this fantastic new product pass by without highlighting some of the awesome talent out there on zazzle so here are:
